I rate stories on a scale of 1-5 violets! Here’s a breakdown of what each of my ratings mean:
1️⃣ : Did not finish (DNF) — basically no redeeming qualities.
This is a VERY uncommon rating for me because I always try to find things in stories that I like or that I think other people would like. I also believe that the endings can make or break a story, so I almost always stick them out until the end to give them a chance!
2️⃣ : Overall negative impression… do not recommend 😕
Usually when I like the premise of a story but the execution was a big let down.
3️⃣ : Meh… no particularly strong positive or negative feelings
These stories aren’t bad per se, they’re just forgettable, and it kind of fell flat for me. A 3 rating means I thought the story was okay, and I might recommend it to people who are looking for specific tropes. This is my most common rating!
4️⃣ : Fun read!
The book may not have left a super strong impression and/or I wasn’t the target audience but it was still interesting, and I would recommend it overall 🤗
5️⃣ : ✨ Life-changing ✨
I deeply resonated with the story and/or absolutely adored the writing style. 5 violet stories are emotional, beautiful, throught-provoking, etc. just an overall chef’s kiss! These are my favorite stories and my least common rating (second to 1-violet ratings).
